National Voters’ Day celebrated at Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala
Multani Mal Modi College, Patiala today celebrated National Voter Day in collaboration with NSS, NCC and Bharat Scouts and Guides wings of the college as per guidelines of district administration, Patiala and under the supervision of college Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar. This event was organized to bring awareness among students and staff members about electoral process of India and the right to vote. SVEEP`s Nodal officer and Dean Student Welfare Prof. Ved Prakash Sharma discussed about the process of election of our representatives and said that as responsible citizens it is our duty to exercise our right to vote in a fair and responsible manner.
College Principal Dr. Khushvinder Kumar while addressing the students elaborated the importance of political literacy and consciousness in our lives and said that by understanding our roles and responsibilities we may overcome the obstacles in our national development. He appealed to all the students and staff to cast their votes in large number in the coming Assembly Elections in the State of Punjab scheduled for February 20, 2022.
On this occasion oath taking ceremony was conducted in which Mahima, a student of the college guided the students and staff members to take a pledge for casting their votes based on the political grounds and not on the basis of caste, class, religion, language or religious identities. In this event Dr. Ashwani Sharma, Dr. Rajeev Sharma, Dr. Harmohan Sharma, Prof. Jagdeep Kaur, Dr. Ajit Kumar, Dr. Rohit Sachdeva, Dr. Nidhi Gupta, Dr. Veenu Jain, Dr. Rupinder Singh and a large number of staff and students were present.

ਸਥਾਨਕ ਮੁਲਤਾਨੀ ਮੱਲ ਮੋਦੀ ਕਾਲਜ, ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਅੱਜ ਜ਼ਿਲਾ ਪ੍ਰਸ਼ਾਸ਼ਨ ਪਟਿਆਲਾ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਜਾਰੀ ਦਿਸ਼ਾ-ਨਿਰਦੇਸ਼ਾਂ ਦੇ ਅਨੁਸਾਰ ਕਾਲਜ ਦਾ ਸਮੂਹ ਸਟਾਫ਼, ਐੱਨ.ਸੀ.ਸੀ, ਐੱਨ.ਐੱਸ.ਐੱਸ ਵਿੰਗਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਸਕਾਊਟਸ ਐਂਡ ਗਾਇੰਡਸ ਵਿੰਗ ਦੇ ਸਹਿਯੋਗ ਨਾਲ ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ.ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਦੀ ਅਗਵਾਈ ਹੇਠ ਰਾਸ਼ਟਰੀ ਵੋਟਰ ਦਿਵਸ ਦਾ ਆਯੋਜਨ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ।ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਨੂੰ ਆਯੋਜਿਤ ਕਰਨ ਦਾ ਮੁੱਖ ਉਦੇਸ਼ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਅਤੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਚੋਣ-ਪ੍ਰਣਾਲੀ ਤੇ ਵੋਟ ਪਾਉਣ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਸਹੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਬਾਰੇ ਸੁਚੇਤ ਕਰਨਾ ਸੀ।ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਸਵੀਪ ਦੇ ਨੋਡਲ ਅਫਸਰ ਤੇ ਡੀਨ ਸਟੂਡੈਂਟ ਵੈਲਫੇਅਰ ਪ੍ਰੋ.ਵੇਦ ਪ੍ਰਕਾਸ਼ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ ਨੇ ਭਾਰਤ ਦੀਆਂ ਸ਼ਾਨਦਾਰ ਗਣਤੰਤਰੀ ਪ੍ਰੰਪਰਾਵਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਚੇਤੇ ਕਰਦਿਆਂ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਭਾਰਤੀ ਨਾਗਰਿਕ ਹੋਣ ਦੇ ਨਾਤੇ ਇਸ ਸਾਡੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਮੇਵਾਰੀ ਬਣਦੀ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਆਪਣੇ ਵੋਟ ਦੇ ਅਧਿਕਾਰ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਬਿਨਾਂ ਕਿਸੇ ਡਰ, ਭੈਅ ਅਤੇ ਲਾਲਚ ਦੇ ਕਰੀਏ ਤੇ ਚੰਗੇ ਤੇ ਸੱਚੇ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਕਿਰਦਾਰ ਵਾਲੇ ਨੇਤਾਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਚੋਣ ਕਰੀਏ।
ਕਾਲਜ ਪ੍ਰਿੰਸੀਪਲ ਡਾ.ਖੁਸ਼ਵਿੰਦਰ ਕੁਮਾਰ ਜੀ ਨੇ ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਸੰਬੋਧਿਤ ਕਰਦਿਆ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਜਾਣਕਾਰੀ ਤੇ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਚੇਤਨਾ ਦਾ ਸਾਡੀ ਜ਼ਿੰਦਗੀ ਦੇ ਸਾਰੇ ਖੇਤਰਾਂ ਤੇ ਗਹਿਰਾ ਪ੍ਰਭਾਵ ਪੈਂਦਾ ਹੈ ਅਤੇ ਮੁਲਕ ਦੇ ਵਿਕਾਸ ਲਈ ਇਹ ਬੇਹੱਦ ਮਹਤੱਵਪੂਰਣ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਅਸੀਂ ਨਾਗਰਿਕ ਦੇ ਤੌਰ ਤੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ ਤੇ ਫਰਜ਼ਾਂ ਤੋਂ ਜਾਣੂ ਹੋਈਏ ਤੇ ਉਹਨਾਂ ਦੀ ਪਾਲਣਾ ਕਰੀਏ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਪੰਜਾਬ ਰਾਜ ਵਿੱਚ ਮਿਤੀ 20 ਫਰਵਰੀ, 2022 ਨੂੰ ਵਿਧਾਨ ਸਭਾ ਚੋਣਾ ਹੋਣ ਜਾ ਰਹੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਅਤੇ ਸਾਨੂੰ ਇਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਚੋਣਾ ਵਿੱਚ ਵੱਧ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਧ ਵੋਟਾਂ ਪਾ ਕੇ ਦੁਨੀਆਂ ਦੇ ਸਭ ਤੋਂ ਵੱਡੇ ਲੋਕ ਤੰਤਰ ਨੂੰ ਮਜਬੂਤ ਕਰਨਾ ਹੈ। ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਨੇ ਕਿਹਾ ਕਿ ਲੋਕਤੰਤਰ ਦੀ ਰਾਖੀ ਅਤੇ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਦਾ ਜਿੰਮਾਂ ਹਰ ਨਾਗਰਿਕ ਦਾ ਮੁਢਲਾ ਫਰਜ਼ ਹੈ।
ਇਸ ਮੌਕੇ ਤੇ ਆਨਲਾਈਨ ਵਿਧੀ ਰਾਹੀਂ ਮੌਜੂਦ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਵਿਖੇ ਹਾਜ਼ਰ ਮੈਂਬਰਾਂ ਨੂੰ ਨਿਰਪੱਖ ਢੰਗ ਨਾਲ ਵੋਟ ਦੀ ਸਹੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਸੁੰਹ ਵੀ ਚੁਕਵਾਈ ਗਈ ਜਿਸ ਦੀ ਰਸਮ ਕਾਲਜ ਦੇ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥਣ ਮਹਿਮਾ ਨੇ ਨਿਭਾਈ ਜਿਸ ਵਿੱਚ ਅਹਿਦ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ ਕਿ ਸਾਰੇ ਆਪਣੀ ਵੋਟ ਦੀ ਵਰਤੋਂ ਧਰਮ, ਜ਼ਾਤ, ਵਰਗ, ਭਾਸ਼ਾ ਜਾਂ ਖਿੱਤੇ ਦੀ ਪਹਿਚਾਣ ਦੀ ਥਾਂ ਸਿਆਸਤ ਦੇ ਆਧਾਰ ਤੇ ਕਰਨਗੇ। ਇਸ ਪ੍ਰੋਗਰਾਮ ਵਿੱਚ ਡਾ.ਅਸ਼ਵਨੀ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ, ਡਾ.ਰਾਜੀਵ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ, ਪ੍ਰੋ. ਜਗਦੀਪ ਕੌਰ, ਡਾ. ਅਜੀਤ ਕੁਮਾਰ, ਡਾ. ਹਰਮੋਹਣ ਸ਼ਰਮਾ, ਡਾ. ਰੋਹਿਤ ਸਚਦੇਵਾ, ਡਾ. ਨੀਧੀ ਗੁਪਤਾ, ਡਾ. ਵਿਨੂ ਜੈਨ, ਡਾ. ਰੁਪਿੰਦਰ ਸਿੰਘ ਅਤੇ ਵੱਡੀ ਗਿਣਤੀ ਵਿੱਚ ਵਿਦਿਆਰਥੀਆਂ ਤੇ ਕਾਲਜ ਸਟਾਫ ਨੇ ਸ਼ਿਰਕਤ ਕੀਤੀ।
